Echoes of the Gallery: A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains
Starting from the visual inspiration of Wang Ximeng's "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" from the Song Dynasty, this project consists of three suites, each corresponding to the Chinese painting perspectives of "Ping Yuan" (Level Distance), "Gao Yuan" (High Distance), and "Shen Yuan" (Deep Distance). Each part of the suite is paired with a line of poetry: "To the end of the waters, sitting and watching the clouds rise" corresponds to "Level Distance"; "Upon reaching the summit, overlooking all the smaller mountains" corresponds to "High Distance"; "Through layers of mountains and rivers, seemingly no way out, then amidst dark willows and bright flowers, a village appears anew" corresponds to "Deep Distance."
The work attempts to blend elements of painting, music, and literature, exploring the minds of the ancients through a fusion of ancient and modern expressions.
