THE REEDS

"The Reeds" is a vocal chamber music piece inspired by the ancient Chinese poem of the same name from the Classic ofPoetry. It is structured in three sections following a "slow-fast-slow" form. By exploring a variety of timbres, textures, dynamics, melodies and rhythms, registers, tonalities, and cultural elements, the piece aims to achieve a musical fusion of "ancient and modern" as well as "East and West."
