NG Xuan Tyi

NG Xuan Tyi is a Penang-born Malaysian Chinese composer currently pursuing studies in theoretical composition in the Department of Music at Chinese Culture University in Taiwan under Prof. Wen Tze Lu. He previously studied orchestral conducting with Prof. Paul Tien Chi Lin. In November 2023, Ng conducted the premiere of his first orchestral work, Mu Ji (木及), which won First Prize in the theoretical composition category of the Hwa Kang Concerto Competition at KHS Hall in Luzhou, Taiwan. In June 2024, his vocal chamber piece The Reeds (蒹葭) won the Counterpoint Ensemble Young Composer Selection and was premiered at the Recital Hall of the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Supported by the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), Ng spent the Fall 2024 semester as an exchange student at Yeungnam University in South Korea, where he continued his composition studies with Prof. Lim Ju Seub (임주섭). In November 2025, Ng was invited to present his new work Home Is Where the Heart Finds Peace at the 7th SoundBridge Contemporary Music Festival in Malaysia.
